painting on pottery in TN

this is where i've been

(view from my parent's front porch)

in TN
with my family
it doesn't get much better than that

plus,
i got to play with my mom in
her pottery studio

she made the dishes
i had fun painting designs on them

 i always leave wishing i had more time
to work with her

 we made plans for our next set of dishes...
we're experimenting with adding pattern in the clay

last but not least,
sadie learned how to swim


and eli got to play on the farm equipment!

in case you were wondering,

this is where fearlessly mixing patterns

is living now

right next to dreaming of you

here's how this one came about

  you can see that i worked on flowers delight and

this baby at the same time

started with yellows and greens

 added pinks and a little red

 more greens and one of my favorites- paynes gray

 dripping browns for the settee and the footboard in the foreground 

 dark background?

more pattern in the sheets?

nope

 couldn't do the dark with checkered look

yes! neutral background so the pillows could pop 

finished!

flowers delight

here's how this one came about

i started with a pencil drawing

i knew i wanted it to be mainly yellow

with lots of other colors

i started with yellows, pinks and reds

added blues and purples

added more yellow and red

to the three flowers

but...

i painted out the yellow, blue and red flowers 

and added a yellow background

welcome green

a little more orangey red

added some more purple

and...she's done

 and happily hanging beside the painted steps!
